Learn more about Tharin and his work
-
Tharin is a writer and researcher and holds an LLB from the University of Cape Town, an LLM in International Law from University College London, and a great deal of enthusiasm for the world around him. He is particularly interested in untangling the human-rights implications of emerging technologies.
Before joining ALT Advisory, Tharin worked as a legal researcher at Corruption Watch (2021-2022), where he represented the organisation in a range of civil society and multi-stakeholder forums, wrote op-eds and articles, and prepared research summaries, speaking notes, and other presentations on issues of anti-corruption—particularly on state capture, whistleblower protection, business integrity, and public procurement reform.
Prior to this, Tharin was a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Cape Town’s Centre for Law and Society (2020-2021), where he conducted research on how a human security framework could bring coherence to South Africa’s dysfunctional criminal justice system.
Tharin is driven by both his intrinsic curiosity and his desire to do good. He firmly believes in the potential of research, activism, and policy reform to create positive change in society, and is committed to using his career to advance the public interest.
