Sustainability of Journalism – Questionnaire
The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) has commissioned ALT Advisory to conduct research on the feasibility of competition reform as a strategy to foster fair competition in the digital economy and promote the sustainability of news journalism. This follows findings from previous SANEF research that notes international developments, particularly in Australia and the United States, relating to fostering competition in the digital economy, including through enhanced engagement with the so-called FAANGs (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google).
This survey seeks to gather the perspectives of stakeholders in the media space to better understand whether and how competition regulation could be used in South Africa to further advance the sustainability of independent media and journalism.
