Parliament of Zimbabwe calls for submissions on the Maintenance of Peace and Order Bill
The Parliament of Zimbabwe has called for submissions on the Maintenance of Peace and Order Bill, 2019 (the Bill), which is intended to replace the Public Order and Security Act.
The Bill contains various provisions regarding the regulation of gatherings, including the appointment of conveners, authorised officers and responsible officers; notice requirements; liability for conveners; and exemptions for certain gatherings. The Bill further sets out the powers of the Police Services and the Defence Force in respect of public order and security.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 17 May 2019, and can be emailed to [email protected].
