Call for applications for the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression
The Secretariat of the United Nations Human Rights Council has announced that applications are now open for four vacancies of mandate holders to be appointed at the 44th Session of the Human Rights Council, including the mandate for the Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression.
Applications are also being accepted for the following mandates: Special Rapporteur on the Implications for Human Rights of the Environmentally Sound Management and Disposal of Hazardous Substances and Wastes; Special Rapporteur on the Right of Everyone to the Enjoyment of the Highest Attainable Standard of Physical and Mental Health; and the Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons.
In assessing the applications, regard will be had to the following factors:
- Expertise;
- Experience in the field of the mandate;
- Independence;
- Impartiality;
- Personal integrity; and
- Objectivity.
Individual applications, including a motivation letter, must be submitted by 12h00 noon (GMT) on 15 April 2020 through the online application procedure, which consists of an online survey and an application form.
