New Resource: Online guide to defending against SLAPPs and other abuse of legal processes

ALT Media has supported the launch of SLAPPback.org.za, a new guide published by Power Law Africa on behalf of Moxii Africa (formerly Media Monitoring Africa). The site was developed to raise awareness of common forms of weaponisation of court processes in South Africa, and to provide information on how to respond to them.

SLAPPback.org.za was drafted by Phenyo Sekati from Power Law Africa, in order to support public-interest actors who face abuse of legal processes by powerful actors, where the aim is to silence critical voices and undermine public participation.

ALT Media developed a mobile-friendly website to host the project, designed in line with Moxii Africa’s bold new brand colours. We also developed a series of original illustrations to provide character and warmth to a topic that could easily be intimidating and overwhelming.
