South Africa: Welcoming Sophie Smit as an Associate

We’re delighted to have Sophie Smit join ALT Advisory as our newest Associate, following her completion of practical vocational training at Power Law Africa. Sophie has also been appointed as an Associate Designate at Power Law Africa while awaiting her admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Sophie holds a B.A. and LL.B. degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as an LL.M. in Human Rights, Advocacy and Litigation. She has worked across a wide range of issues, including gender-based violence, media viability, migration, and constitutional and administrative law. Sophie has also provided organisational support and project management services to a number of important causes, including the M20 initiative and as part of the team behind Mzansi Life, the social cohesion intervention developed in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency.

Going forward, Sophie will work primarily in our Equality & Inclusion and Public Law & Policy practices, and in our growing Project Management service offering.
